Juan Pardo Expeditions
Before Sir Walter Raleigh’s expedition landed on the Outer Banks in 1585, French and Spanish explorers traveled across modern-day North Carolina and led the European powers in claiming American land. By the mid-1500s, the Spanish, in particular, were winning the race of conquest. Early Spanish explorers included Luis Vasquez de Allyan, who sailed the Cape Fear River in 1526; Hernando de Soto, who in 1540 traversed through the southern Appalachian mountains; and Juan Pardo, who led two expeditions from Santa Elena (Tybee Island, Georgia) into the Catawba Valley and then into the mountains of western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.
During his first expedition, Pardo established good relationships with Indian tribes and searched primarily for food for the Santa Elena settlement. The second expedition’s mission was mainly to find a road to Zacatecas, Mexico (location of Spanish silver mines) and to claim land for Spain.

[edit]Born Juan Ignacio Pardo Suárez on November 11, 1942, in Spain,[1] Juan Pardo is singer-songwriter.[2] He was a member of the group Los Brincos. He later teamed up Junior, a former Brincos member to form the duo Juan y Junior.[3] At the end of 1980, he returned to the musical scene to launch his successful international career.[4]
Career
[edit]It was reported by Billboard in the magazine's September 19, 1970 issue that former Juan y Junior member Juan Pardo, a Novola artist had made his first concert appearance as a solo artist.[5]
In December 1974, Pardo had "Conversasiones Conmigo Mism" on the Latin Hit Parade chart in Spain and "Mr. Guitarra" on the Venezuela chart. He also had his album Conversasiones Conmigo Mism in the album chart.[6][7]
On the week of September 12, 1981, "No Me Hables" got to no. 8 on the East Coast section of Record World Latin U.S.A. Hit Parade chart.[8] It was also at no. 7 in the West Coast section,[9] and registering the Mexico charts.[10] It entered the German charts on 2
